VEYRIER, Switzerland – Police are searching for three men suspected of having blown up two automated teller machines in Veyrier, canton Geneva, in the early hours of Sunday 19 April.
Police report that the men blew up the Raiffeisen Bank cash distributors and were seen speeding away from the scene of the crime in a black BMW 3 Series with French license plates.
The suspects reached the French border – only a few hundred meters away – before police could catch them.
The teller machines were located in a residential building, however no one was hurt in the incident.
A Canadian expat living in the building – and who provided the photos – said residents did not have to evacuate but firefighters took a good look around.
More than 20 firefighters from the city of Geneva and Veyrier intervened.
Police have not said if the suspects were successful in their attempt to steal cash from the machines.
The Geneva cantonal police in charge of robberies (Brigade des cambriolages) are asking anyone with information to call 022 427 71 20 or 022 427 81 11.
