Bastille Day celebrations around Lake Geneva

EVIAN, France – French flags are flying high today 14 July in commemoration of France’s National Day or Bastille Day.

The fête reminisces the beginning of the French Revolution by marking the Storming of the Bastille which occurred the 14th of July 1789; it symbolizes the end of the monarchy and the beginning of the Republic.

If you are in Geneva, hop across the border to enjoy the celebrations which include dancing and fireworks.

Many surrounding towns celebrated on the evening of 13 July. The list below features only those towns displaying fireworks today 14 July.

If staying in Geneva head to the Gustave-Ador quay where you can spot some of the fireworks from surrounding towns.  If you are on the Nyon-Vevey side of Lake Geneva, chances are you’ll be able to spot the Evian fireworks.
