Geneva International School evacuated after bomb threat

GENEVA, Switzerland – The oldest and largest of the three campuses of the International School of Geneva, La Grande Boissière, was evacuated today Thursday after receiving a bomb threat from an anonymous source.

The TdG newspaper, which broke the story, reports the call came in to Ecolint, as students arrived for class.

The youngsters were evacuated while Geneva police searched the school for explosives.

Nothing was found and pupils were allowed back in school at 09:45, reports the TdG.

Some students posted photos on social media of Geneva police in action.

Last week, 18 schools were evacuated after a series of bomb threats were made across Britain.

Geneva police is now trying to determine the identity of the caller. According to Swiss law, the culprit could face up to three years and a fine:

Any person who causes fear and alarm among the general public by threatening or feigning a danger to life, limb or property is liable to a custodial sentence not exceeding three years or to a monetary penalty.

No one was injured as result of the hoax.
